Bake Off boosts broadcast media

I can’t let the final of the Great British Bake Off pass without blogging about it. If anyone questions the success, the power and continued relevance of broadcast media, the final of the Great British Bake Off not only drew together in excess of ten million viewers to watch the heart-warming climax, but also informed the editorial programme of TV news, radio and print journalism the following day; not to mention Twitter. A truly ¬†cross-media event, which captured the attention of the nation, only achievable on traditional TV – enjoyed by young school children and grannies alike. If the BBC want to defend the licence fee this is the way to do it.
